@Singsalad I've seen roughly similar roadblocks on the superficial level: Diversity is a choice, and in an established organization a more riskier one.
@Singsalad You risk reaching short term goals because hiring someone who is not neurological similar has a higher chance for friction.
@Singsalad So you need to give ppl incentives. At a client I worked with the Diversity rate was made part of an MDs performance evaluation.

Working with a student, I realized that building an image slider from scratch is a pretty good project which covers a lot of webdev aspects.
Definitely and advanced topic a student should be able to solve after they had quite some training in CSS, HTML and JavaScript.

I'm refactoring an Angular 1 app to React and I really love the fact that it gets rid of all the Angular Magic.
React Apps are composed using plain JS modules. No Service Factory foo. It's way easier to understand and Backend devs will understand it.

Banks lack brand power and skills to successfully transform their operations as well as the sense of urgency. They are still doing too well.
A "quick" and agile time to market working with a bank: 9 months. But banks are ready to experiment and fail. Iteration is the key!

Our first efforts failed, because we could not change the underlying system. We had new tools, but the old mindset.
What we did then is, top-level management gave the strategic decisions to be made to the employees.
Interestingly the responses and solutions were not the most important. But that employees took the responsibility.
