In October 2022 I left Twitter. This is my tweet archive for April 2018.
Tweets
- I'm moving back to Germany🇩🇪. I had enough of how Norwegians just get along, are not bitching about everything, combine their job and family, go out for sport all week. This nature is just too much, colors, rocks, trees. WTFjords! My German soul just can't stand this anymore.
- @motor3d Oh, the agony!
- I mean look at this! Who in their right mind wants to live here?! #bergen 🇳🇴 #backtoger 🇩🇪 https://t.co/BHhsNLpkBf

- @Paratron Yes send halp!
- @rotnroll666 Haha, no, I can earn Millions of Euros in all the awesome Startups in Germany!
- @vicbergquist Don't be stupid! Have you seen how it looks over here?! https://t.co/wIDXJ0CJm2
- That's why I love #JavaScript: use good syntax and let the engine optimize it for you (or it will be optimized soonish). Don't use performance hacks, which make code less readable and remove portability. https://t.co/fNA4HpkND5
- @rotnroll666 That weather was nearly the same today!
- Hjem i #trondheim 🇳🇴 https://t.co/4jAtY7OeqO
- @jen_star It's so fantastic that we managed to move to Norway and just be a few hours apart! #norwayrocks
- Bootstrap is made to be customized and offers a very straightforward way from prototyping with generic UI elements to a unique design. Also, the value of a unique design becomes very low when going a mobile first strategy, Bootstrap et al provide best practices. https://t.co/MfiSnWCpqy
- Employing these best practices will make it easier form your users to understand the mechanics in your app. Before rolling your own CSS framework think hard if it is really worth the effort.
- Also think about the fact that developer onboarding becomes much easier when using a popular framework. Scaling your team with a homegrown solution becomes slower.

- @Paratron @Niklas_L Please don't put code-style into a README. This should be handled in linters.
- Nå det snør igjen ... Gal våren i #trondheim https://t.co/6zLH7tdXAa
- @Niklas_L I misread @Paratron comment. I thought he asked about defining code-comments in this document. Which he wasn't ... my bad.
- @Paratron @Niklas_L Right, sorry! If you follow good naming conventions and design good methods, commenting methods arguments becomes mostly obsolete.
- This is terrible, and a big reminder: if you see things like this happening, blow the whistle! https://t.co/WdBUsgeXeE
- You can now get a real Bluetooth: https://t.co/slB03cwuiy
- @jezenthomas GDPR protects only users in the EU.
- @javidotpro See the rest of the thread for reasons. Tutanota is e2e encrypted by default between Tutanota users. On https://t.co/fkJfoKwl3l you can achieve the same level of security using the PGP encrypted mailbox. So it can be equally secure.
- @mattes @Niklas_L But would that be done by a tool? Vulnerability scanning should not be a manual task. If you mean awareness and best practices, this could be added. It would be interesting what resources you hand to your developers.
- @Lynoure A codebase that is easy to change and extend.
- @Lynoure I favor composition over inheritance and keep Functions really small. I rather have many tiny classes than one big. I also prefer to have many isolated modules (@npmjs ftw!) which provide a strong separation of concern, so it's easier to grasp what individual components do.
- @Lynoure My mantra is https://t.co/TOidvOqNt6 with TDD (unit tests for business critical code, integration tests).
- @Lynoure @npmjs Yes, that's why Interfaces help to describe abstractions so you don't need to know all the details.
- Node.js 8.10 runtime now available in AWS Lambda https://t.co/35mloioMyZ
- Israel is slaughtering unarmed civilians on Palestinian soil: https://t.co/QxA5Xf262v
- @Ocramius If they really cannot come up with a better way to improve customer satisfaction, let the have a go, but as a small experiment: one feature, part of the team, and they pick the time and scope, but they must honestly report their learnings.
- This is nice! We have a team password manager now built in to AWS: https://t.co/zrqhBoqEd8 I was using a home-built solution up until now: https://t.co/uU6AkDElEb

- @Ravetracer @developer_week @WieVieleFrauen Events wie @WomenTechmakers @techettes_ffm @railsgirls zeigen ganz klar dass es genug Frauen gibt, die was zum Thema Technik zu sagen haben. - @Paratron Nah, it's just the widespread believe about what makes a secure password. It does not necessarily mean that they are storing passwords in plain text. Best practice today is min-length without any character limitations plus 2FA. For a telco, 2FA is basically free via SMS.
- @Paratron Although it is important to know that SMS is not a secure transport. So don't use that for securing the keys to your kingdom.
- @alipasha @dbsystel @DB_Skydeck Haha ;-) https://t.co/Hfv5zM0O7r (I had my joy trying to improve this situation at some time)
- @fox When I'm chosen to be part of a huge group with roughly the same ethnicity, skin color, age, experience, it means I must be truly special. So how dare you question this! --- It's so sad that they don't understand that it is not about them. It's about those who are not there.

- @Roritharr The Tweet + Website take down makes no sense if that would be the case.
- @schinkenstrudel @jen_star @jke @powtac Memes posten ist ja nicht unbedingt "nicht" kommunizieren.
- Flashback: in 2015 I met with Yassin to talk about his next Startup. He was looking for a CTO back then. Regardless of what is really behind what's going on at SaveDroid, I'm glad I turned him down. https://t.co/5MoFAuWnxv
- @Roritharr Really? All employees usually sign NDAs, breaking them will be risky (as long as the company exists). Give them 10000€ each and they will keep quiet for a while.
- @Paratron That would have been fixed by now. At least by redirecting the Domain ...
- @Paratron Haha, good for you. Their methods have been shady from the beginning, so this is not a total surprise, just the scale is like WTF?
- @Paratron Very good question. Points to PR stunt.

- @gr2m I got semantic-release working with @awscloud codebuild: https://t.co/gbFrTtAfUk ... but I need it to run "git ls-remote --tags", so I added a configuration option. Would you thing this is a good solution, or should there be a new plugin hook for this?

- #react tip: Don't store elements in state. Your element tree is always a function of your state.
- @Paratron There are always people learning, who might not have this mental model in mind ...
- The ranking system on SO gives people incentives to vote down, to keep new people from entering the platform. https://t.co/1DBkvRbh62
- I don't think it helps s community to have "ranks", it puts to much emphasis on past interactions of members. I see the value of a evaluation system: to reward users. But there are better metrics, like how many people did you help this week.
- @_Tomalak You are equating help with activity. It could also mean: "how many people have marked your past answers as helpful this week"
- @_Tomalak Yes, but SO is not using this as a rank, but the all-time total.

- @NativeWired I really had to force myself to read it to the end. It's sad that he cannot understand that it is not about equality of people, but of chances. And it's terrible to read that he is denying women a chance to make a career in programming, as much as he did.

- @c089 In some cases it was clear because they knew us, in others guests were asked to specify which parts we would participate in. So, even the religious one were aware that not everybody appreciates a religious ceremony.
- @c089 I "believe" that I am doing them a better service, when I am not in there rolling eyes all the time. Most people will understand if you tell them: I'm happy to celebrate with you, but this part is not for me ...
- @Paratron @manucorporat Yes, but these are cheap on HTTP/2.
- @Paratron @manucorporat Even later requests will benefit: https://t.co/OJMUTWT7DF
- I would not have expected so many responses to the question if people take neuro-enhancing drugs that shrug it off as something normal. This is also a very dystopian development: force yourself to function in a dysfunctional work environment. https://t.co/C2x9HiqEu5
- @c089 I never noticed it during my work that somebody was using enhancers of any kind. But nobody will openly admit it. Makes me really think if I should have paid more attention ... I definitely worked with people who would fit that profile. But is it my place to ask a colleague?
- @c089 Would it be my duty to ask this question a subordinate?
- Summer in the air, the ground is just starting to see some colour, though. #trondheim 🇳🇴 https://t.co/q4Q4xLhZZv
- @SamirTalwar @c089 I know, this is highly personal. I worked in defunct companies and there I tried to be approachable and trustworthy and create an environment which reduced pressure. I think this is what I can do always and this does not invade peoples privacy.
- Here is what I have so far: Ports & Adapters Architecture: https://t.co/9TmCi0HRE6 Here is a video @totheralistair explaining it: https://t.co/Mja82X5CIl It gives a great intro how "Ports & Adapters" came to be, 2 more videos show them writing an implementation of this arch. https://t.co/6NF5M2bXJL
- S.O.L.I.D. Principle: https://t.co/TOidvOqNt6 Following this enables a Ports & Adapters arch, and also testing. This is my religion when it comes to writing code.
- I like to evolve an solution through loosely coupling components, which in the end are microservices. The best explanation for this approach I found in "REST in Practice" https://t.co/NkMWwiyu91
- Since we are implementing code in JavaScript, I am really missing a good book on good first principles in this language. We have fantastic books for JavaScript syntax and features, Promises etc. But I'm not aware of a book doing Architecture Archaeology in JavaScript projects.
- This might be due to that fact that this language is running on everything, everywhere and every environment has it's specific properties which you need to cater for.
- Wow, #lego has become really evil ... https://t.co/p2s29fdWGi

- @dwass Well, you can do no architecture in any language ;-)
