In October 2022 I left Twitter. This is my tweet archive for January 2019.
Tweets
- Happy new year! Godt nytt år! 🎉 May your bugs be small and your features impactful. https://t.co/Gqfl7BIjog
- @lauralindal It feels selfish to put yourself first but taking control is the first and hardest step. Change is so scary for all, but they will understand that it enables you to become a happier Laura. And this is what they want, too. I wish you a wonderful journey!
- I am in #RheinMainRocks land this week, so feel free to reach out for a one-on-one coffee here. I'm happy to take the time and help! https://t.co/NoTvPAnYh0
- Definitely watch @ExploreAdeva, they are doing great things for making tech more diverse and inclusive! https://t.co/2rEaGkJUq6
- I received news that this talk was accepted at another conference. It's really nice to see that I have found something interesting to share again. https://t.co/sMLBA6aWSz
- @ktrajchevska @ExploreAdeva Yeah, happy new year! I hope you have more great stuff to tell after 2019 is over! 💪
- @XBowstech Love my blacks!
- Do you always have temp / scratch files lying around in your Git repo and sometimes accidentally commit them (like I do)? Here is a simple fix! https://t.co/dDlpbnFZlx
- @JoelEsli True, nobody wants to sit through a 3 hour presentation ;-)
- @Maggysche As early as possible (I selected 3 months because that is good enough).
- @essquare_de Rock on 🤘!
- Little Brother Cory Doctorow 2008 https://t.co/IbFQozmuq3
#geschicktgendern
- @_Tomalak "Guten Tag Alex Meier, hiermit möchten wir Sie über folgende Änderungen betreffend Ihres Anstellungsverhältnisses informieren:" Ist OK, aber doch etwas unpersönlich.
- @_Tomalak Die Anrede für Frauen ist: "Sehr geehrte Frau Meier" Für Männer: "Sehr geehrter Herr Meier"
- @liran_tal @EuroTestingConf @goldbergyoni Yes, that's why I love going to conferences like @EuroTestingConf. Blog posts and singular videos are (rightfully) too narrow. On confs, multiple speakers will be able to cover a topic with more detail, and everybody on location can exchange on these ideas more.
- @liran_tal @EuroTestingConf @goldbergyoni To know when a unit test is not really adding any value can be quite hard. It can give a sense of false safety in loosely coupled systems.
- @goldbergyoni @liran_tal @EuroTestingConf To be fair, I always understood that the pyramid was made to visualize the cost for for writing these three specific types of tests. I use it in the talk to challenge pre-existing knowledge and not to define a new/better version.
- @goldbergyoni @liran_tal @EuroTestingConf It really depends on the type of system how the distribution of tests looks like. Spotify has turned it into a honeycomb: https://t.co/2jz5td47G8
- @mirjam_diala They probably just forgot to commit the test! 🙊 https://t.co/627M32tSEf
- @c089 What a trainwreck! :-D
- @rradczewski @tdpauw Thank you, @tdpauw!
- @tdpauw @rradczewski Don't apologize! It's great that they are in and you were able to make time to add them.
- My 2018: https://t.co/TrI553QtOw
- Here are two resources to check out in case you are wondering if you will be able to connect the #nrf9160 in *your* country: > https://t.co/FaXnizEsLw
- The @GSMA has a mobile IoT deployment map which shows nationwide availability: https://t.co/aisIU7Gc61 https://t.co/eDOfWZc3Mg
- But check with your local carrier, they might already have support for LTE-m/NB-IoT in your country. @i_basis which provide the SIM cards that are in @NordicTweets #nrd9160 Development Kits have their own coverage information on https://t.co/cPIhMfSSYu https://t.co/SI5r8A5Rh9
- Happy connecting!
- C-Level: we can just buy X. Same notion: the best way of creating value is collaboration, not taking shortcuts. https://t.co/dW6FBjjb4S
- “We can only hope that the politicians understand that energy-intensive computing is one of the things we will live on in the future,” Maybe they should figure out today how to make money off that, today, instead of depending on subsidiaries. #Crypto https://t.co/FJyP4ZLvmj
- @alipasha In this case they clearly only have commercial interests, which makes their argument that crypto will be "The Future" of everything and therefore every country should subsidiarize it totally mute.
- @alipasha Already happening: https://t.co/AiXlJDSQSs
- @googlemaps is the aggregate yearly report available on My Maps somehow? https://t.co/ypfNERpSyH
- @miskaknapek Or Oil Gas Coal Cars Consumer Electronics Convenience/Fast Food Meat ... And many of those receive subsidiaries, too. We destroyed our planet and happily paid for it.
- Nice! https://t.co/EmpTRlfg63 is a free platform by @DanskeBank_DK where purpose-driven startups which work for social and environmental #change can share their challenges with experts and get the advice they need. #mentoring https://t.co/ohbQSS0gEC
- Check out these interesting startups on the platform: @integrify_fi and @polisensio! Exactly my area of interest ;-) https://t.co/4jUIc9OIhw
- @sippndipp @Maggysche This article gives some good rules: https://t.co/b12U1GfUFR You could also look at some bigger APIs, like https://t.co/hJhAhtQ2WJ (Schema: https://t.co/fWEtVUvQnS)
- @lisacrispin @Jan0707 Works for me, too.
- @Lynoure First, tell us what your hobby is... https://t.co/gayNeJl7ro
- @RonJeffries @johncutlefish Do you mean that because as developers we are only getting involved in the end? I'd rather sit together with everyone from the beginning, without making a single keystroke, than waiting for a requirement document to show up in my inbox.
- @RonJeffries @johncutlefish Yes, I also know these "just make it, it's a simple fix/change" people.
- Here we come @codefreeze_fi! Flying with @lufthansa to IVL! #codefreeze https://t.co/RiclNPcoHr
- @Lynoure Nice! I think it's great if you also share "personal" stuff like hobbies! After all, we are here for the human connection, and also at work we only do well if we can be our entire self. Go for it!
- IT'S CALLED #CODEFREEZE, NOT #AIRPORTFREEZE! 🤞 https://t.co/YfnOkLHoti
- ↹ vs _ all over again. https://t.co/8VOtHa84hk
- @offbyoni My coffee mill was suspicious. Again.
- @AgileNuggets @RonJeffries @johncutlefish But designers are needed to innovate. Makers alone would mostly iterate.
- IVL is so remote that the automated announcer at the @lufthansa gate does not name it as a destination. #codefreeze
- @datenreisender @codefreeze_fi @lufthansa Thank you! It will be magical, as always 😄
- @lufthansa @codefreeze_fi We still ❤️ you for operating this connection! We are on it the third year in a row!
- I've done the dip! #codefreeze https://t.co/6WKvlGECHb
- @CaroSilbernagl Adrenalin!
- Super interesting question posted today on the #softwarecrafters Slack by @RiccardoOdone: "How are companies supporting seniors with the goal of keeping them engaged and growing?" My experience has been that is hard to grow vertically and I usually outgrow companies. >
- I am most engaged when I have new challenges, but they are adding expertise in a new domain (grow horizontally). There is practical no concept of supporting seniors to grow, because by definition they have peaked. We are asked to grow others (non-seniors). >
- While there are bigger companies that have technical expert career tracks (called Principal Engineers, which are an alternative to the typical managerial career track) I haven't had the chance to experienced this, yet. What's your take?
- @dawnieando @RiccardoOdone How about: the most experienced people in an organization?
- @RiccardoOdone @dawnieando That would also be what I have in mind.
- Good Morning from Ivalo! #codefreeze https://t.co/CNPyav110X
- We did the welcome&intro session and I am amazed: #codefreeze is really huge this year! https://t.co/qoDAYqurg2
- @RiccardoOdone Thank you! Maybe next year?
- @RiccardoOdone Sure, will do! Today is a slow day with no sessions. Check the Trello and Slack to keep up to date.

- @spielplatzmnstr Thanks, I really miss your friendly face here!
- It's really sad to see that the conference with the most inclusive track record in years still does not receive submissions from more women. Non-men are fantastic speakers, too. I want to see more of you, hear your opinion, see with your eyes. We need to encourage you more. https://t.co/DN2RzQLhzz

- @RiccardoOdone This is getting discussed as part of this session at #codefreeze: https://t.co/nE61XVqUCK - I am out in the woods, but I am sure there will be material/comments added.
- @datenreisender No, the week #codefreeze happens depends on the hotel, they "give" as the week that is best for them.
- @datenreisender But it is usually in the second week of January in the past.
- Thanks @github! https://t.co/4nAav1fQLm
- @essquare_de @sebastian_nell Nice, don't forget you'll find a lot of resources on https://t.co/ciIp7yQnMU and support / Q&A on https://t.co/gln6XrvCvU

- We had an amazing retrospective at #codefreeze today where many brainstormed how to make this unconference more inclusive and more accessible so that more people can experience the magic of @codefreeze_fi. Sharing and caring for others is what makes this event so magical!
- @nelisboucke Thank you for the great input! It was a pleasure to meet you.

- This is the result. Look at me. I'm really happy. https://t.co/v3RwP32Eox
- It's really a privilege to be able to share this part of our fantastic planet with more and more people. #codefreeze for me could also be called #timefreeze because it is not really about code but about having a wonderful timeout from all the craziness we call life. https://t.co/D1NBh9IeOH
- @chaos_monster @EskoLuontola @codefreeze_fi @_arcticjs No, it was inspired by the SoCraTes conferences, and is now in its 5th year (first was in 2015). https://t.co/63phqOuJJ5
- @chaos_monster @EskoLuontola @codefreeze_fi @_arcticjs @hblank There are quite a few most notably @SoCraTes_Conf, @SoCraTes_UK, full list is available on https://t.co/a0o2oneQ9q
- @FranziskaNaja Es ist echt schwer direkt den Nutzen eine Studiums zu sehen, insbesonderes wenn man noch mitten drin ist. Das ist ein Invest der sich über die nächsten Jahre auszahlen wird.

- 👉 Looking for a job? I will tweet your anonymized profile (what you are looking for, location, etc) and forward you the responses. I think this can be an interesting way to find new job offers from our extended network. PM me your details!
- I also had fun working with some of the summer students this year, and it's really amazing to see that they get to explore interesting and also challenging projects. Way cooler than the internships I had! https://t.co/riC8Kmmd2N
- I shared it because I trust Emma to speak truly about her experience. It was clear to me that it does not reflect the experience of every women in tech, and she made it very clear that it was her point of view. I believe we once in a deserve some positive examples. https://t.co/y5qLPANlhq

- I would like to take some time to figure out if it's feasible to develop Node.js lambdas on @awscloud entirely using @cloud9ide ... including figuring out how staging works, etc. It could be so amazing to have cloud resources to compile js, instead of the local machine.
- @EmmaWedekind Welcome back!
- @EmmaWedekind I try! I see how hard it can be to deal with a lot of negative commentary. Maybe have an eye on whether the platform you are publishing on supports blocking users so you quickly get rid of certain users.
- @ccoignard What do you mean by "it"?
- 2️⃣ #anonymousjobseeker: ♦️ Junior engineer based in Boston 🇺🇲 with C++/C, Python, C# and COBOL skills, and solid knowledge in web technologies. Willing to relocate! ♦️ Reply here or DM me your job details and I will forward! https://t.co/PLKUwBzPlj
- @nelisboucke @SoCraTes_BE I prefer to give a home exercise oh their own time and then also talk about their approach. Important part is how they communication before, during and after the task.
- What I do when I am alone in the office: https://t.co/hAOAf1hmop
- What is also problematic with not talking to humans but relying on algorithms to make decisions: You only decide on what you can measure (number of people in a room), but maybe your customers like being in a large room? https://t.co/nMrDum5zXg
- @cowglow Me, grinding coffee.
- @w3ltraumpirat No, I actually go outside in the emergency staircase so I do not annoy my coworkers ...

- If you do no longer use classes as collaboration holders (see below), how do you define interfaces now? Or do you still use interfaces, but compose the concrete instance as a bag of functions? https://t.co/8uFMDYGf3z

- @Paratron @eduardsi ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- @dc7590 I only dance when I get to drink it!
- @lux_lock Thanks!
- #EuroTestConf is my favourite hashtag right now: so many cool people lining up for @EuroTestingConf in Valencia next month! It's going to be such a great meeting of people who share and want to learn - the best recipe for an awesome conference.
- Good Morning from #Trondheim! https://t.co/eGU13aodO8
- The sun is coming back! #trondheim https://t.co/EC7TvgVNQw
- @EmmaWedekind Guten Appetit!
- @c089 @lightling Lisette really does great work around working in distributed teams. I believe it is not her intention and if she was aware that she would revisit this. I am sure that we can provide her with some better examples.
- I am really happy to be speaking @nordictestdays in Tallin in May, it's the first time a get to travel to Estonia! https://t.co/jH3gTkmBH2
- I can now also brag that I got @m0vas to submit to @nordictestdays which means I succeeded in convincing more of @NordicTweets fantastic engineers to share about the work we do here. https://t.co/P2u5NcrKRR
- Check out https://t.co/FOx5miXZbu, a tutorial that teaches you how to work at the command-line. You'll learn all the basic skills needed to start being productive in the UNIX terminal.

- You think you have nothing to talk about? The most important part of a talk is passion about a topic. There is no level of expertise required to speak about your passion. If you truly care about something, it will be a talk worth listening to. https://t.co/XQezKB7CBq
- Kicking off a student project @NordicTweets today, and I'm happy to see that out of 6 students only two are men!

- "Go use (and buy) the hard and software you want!" https://t.co/OQqlnt3tYl
- @robsmallshire @Lynoure In my experience nothing serious happens at these events. The money and is spent better on building a solid product pitch and reaching out to investors / incubators through your network.
- @robsmallshire @Lynoure It could be interesting to go to bigger events like @SlushHQ and @sxsw who attract these people but are still quite techy.
- This is great! https://t.co/gqhgWVGj6x
- https://t.co/DHGFvnLy0i https://t.co/6HDw136Zxb
- @KimMaida @EuroTestingConf Preparing a talk improves the speakers skill to explain technical concepts, the public speaking itself improves their ability to defend their opinion in front of others. This is a unique opportunity, which takes some time to prepare but is very rewarding in the end.
- I'm really excited to join @EuroTestingConf for my second time. You can, too, there are still tickets available (ping me for a €50 discount). This conference covers what I care most about: software quality. And here are some of the things I am really looking forward to:
- Let @SalFreudenberg show us how remote mob programming can be made work and actually a fun activity for introverts: https://t.co/rj0Ke3r1ov
- Listening to @sarahjwells talking about scaling testing efforts in complex cloud native peojects the right way: https://t.co/JOt7Ywjyc5
- Learning from @jess_ingrass how to manage and lead a team in a way that ensures no team member is left behind: https://t.co/hca91NctvX
- Enjoy @malk_zameth who is a force of nature on stage as he packs wisdom as if he were already in his second reincarnation in our software world: https://t.co/9LOCYAgEuB
- Enjoy the exchange with other quality minded softworkers in the lean coffee!
- Finally I do also get to contribute with talk about testing cloud native solutions: https://t.co/CqjCd1f608
- And here is a blog about my experiences in the last year so you get a good impression of what awaits you: https://t.co/wIciLZoQYf
- Did I mention it is in the beautiful city of Valencia?! It's going to be a blast!
- @mirjam_diala @EuroTestingConf @ConfBuddy Thank you Miri, I was just about to tweet that! https://t.co/4Z8ynk4BA4
- @mirjam_diala @EuroTestingConf @ConfBuddy ... and we are actually three @ConfBuddys there: @bberrycarmen and Thorsten join, too! https://t.co/bSacXR04on
- I was surprised about Linz, too, to discover that it's really a great city! https://t.co/NBGjPWP548
- @mediafinger @bberrycarmen @EuroTestingConf Maybe think about applying as a speaker next year!
- I really enjoyed Annihilation (2018)! A very beautiful action / horror movie with a great female cast and a beautiful strange and colorful world. https://t.co/AKmvKKNhu9
- No :-( E_TOO_MANY_CONFERENCES

- @TimoStaudinger @maybekatz Git has no issues with big files.
- @morficus @TimoStaudinger @maybekatz Ok, "big" is relative ;-)
- @jkriggins @chekofif In email I use "Hey all" or if it really is only two people: "Hey Name1 and Name2"
- I am at that level where I read "we reinvent X" as "we make X more expensive and add privacy issues".
- .@TimPietrusky and me will join the @gdcfpday in #Frankfurt and give a lightning talk on Call for Proposals: what the heck they are and also a little intro to how this whole process works for conferences! Q&A included! Get your free ticket now! #DiversityInTech https://t.co/YlSkAVcl7t

- Crazy, for only 20$ some allow Facebook access to their ENTIRE digital life. https://t.co/IMDgsNSXqR
- @benjamin Yes, true. I was also thinking what "teens" means, it might include minors... They are not even able to understand the extend of this properly.
- @benjamin https://t.co/b1Dh8Knt52 Fuckers.
- Thank you @sinnerschrader / @accentureactive for supporting the @gdcfpday! #diversityintech https://t.co/g6iIaGbDgc
